The documents intended to be used in China by foreign citizens (including overseas Chinese) should be notarized by a Swiss notary or Office of the State Government , and then authenticated by the Legalization Office of the State Government before being submitted to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center. It is compulsory to make appointment with Application Center in advance and submit the application to Application Center during the period of time as you appointed online.
